Louis Honoré Homer Fluet was born in Saint-Nicolas, Quebec on May 14, 1882. Omer, as he preferred to be called, was the ninth child born to Eugene and Aurelie (nee Martineau) Fluet. He grew up in Saint-Nicolas, until his family moved to Lawrence, Massachusetts. He was educated by the Christian Brothers and raised in the Catholic faith. On August 7, 1905 Omer married Alma Laetitia Tetreau, the daughter of Jean Baptiste and Emma Tetreau, in St. Anne's Church in Lawrence, Massachusetts. A year later in the spring of 1906, Omer set out for western Canada. He purchased land in Mosside, Alberta and spent several months preparing the land and building a home. He then returned to Lawrence for Alma and together they began the journey to their new home. They spent the winter in Morinville, Alberta, and in April 1907 they headed out to their homestead in Mosside.

Together Omer and Alma had four children: Marie Blanche, Charles Herbert, Rita Jeannette, and Réné Louis. About two weeks after the birth of their fourth child, Alma Fluet died, on March 31, 1914. Following his wife's death, Omer spent years farming his land, working at the Clemes sawmill and raising his young family. Years later on August 10, 1927, Omer Fluet married Ida Maria Bredeson, daughter of Peder and Ovidia Bredeson, in Westlock, Alberta. Together they had four children: Leo Arthur, Eugene Edward, Leona Alma, and Sonja Maria.

Omer Fluet died on August 25, 1950 while at his daughter Marie Blanche Staniland's home in Edmonton. He was buried at Holy Cross Church in Mosside on August 29, 1950.
