HISTORY/BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH: Jean Gustave Côté was born in 1909; he was the son of Jean Léon and Cécile (Gagnon) Côté. Jean Gustave began a career with the Canadian National Railways in 1925, retiring in 1974. In 1938, he married Cecilia Taylor; they had one son, Jean Édouard. Jean Gustave extensively researched his father's career. He gave talks on his father's achievements and wrote a published biography of his father entitled Senator Jean Léon Côté: a Personal Biography. He traced his genealogy, as part of the research for the book. Jean Gustave Côté passed away in 1999.
SCOPE AND CONTENT: The records consists of research papers and publications on Jean Léon Côté's personal and professional life, genealogical material and newspaper clippings on the Côté family, research notes on train dispatching, photographs and maps.
