Jean Wallbridge and Mary Imrie opened a downtown office in 1950; in 1957 they moved their office into their newly constructed home, Six Acres, where they also lived as a lesbian couple. The majority of their architectural projects were domestic in nature: private residences, apartment buildings, additions, and renovations; these were typical projects for female architects at the time. Their architecture featured light and open concepts. Jean was principally responsible for design and Mary for working drawings and contract administration. In 1957 Wallbridge & Imrie won the Prairie Regional award from the Canadian Housing Design Council for one of their house designs.
