Even though it was under the leadership of Boy Scouts of Canada, the troupe still functioned in French. In 1935 the parish set up a Girl Guide troupe, which had been part of the original mandate in 1931.
The various regional French troupes that were started throughout Alberta between 1931 and 1973 were all under the leadership of Scouts Canada. These included Falher, Peace River, Saint-Paul, Bonnyville, Plamondon and Vimy. At the same time, Girl Guide troupes were set up in Saint-Paul, Bonnyville and Vimy. Initially administered by Boy Scouts of Canada and Girl Guides of Canada respectively, the two associations changed their affiliation to the Fédération des scouts catholiques du Québec and the Fédération des guides catholiques du Québec in the 1950s. However, the French Scouting movement in Alberta changed its affiliation back to Boy Scouts of Canada in 1960, while the Guides continued to be affiliated with the Catholic association, which had adopted a new name, the Fédération des guides catholiques du Canada. And yet, in 1972 both groups were administered by the Association des Scouts du Canada.
In 1973 Alberta's Scouting and Girl Guide movements incorporated under the name Association des scouts francophones de l'Alberta. In order to be more inclusive of the Girl Guide movement the name was changed to Association des scouts et guides de l'Alberta in 1985. "Secteur français" was added to the name in 1987 to clarify the association's place within the larger Association des scouts du Canada. The Association des scouts et guides de l'Alberta (secteur français) has maintained its mandate to help youth become self-reliant citizens by encouraging healthy eating, as well as the physical, moral, social, psychological and spiritual development of its members. | CUSTODIAL HISTORY: | The Association des scouts et guides de l’Alberta (secteur français) occasionally donates inactive records to the Provincial Archives of Alberta.
