Membership in the club appears to have been limited to those who had served overseas with the Canadian Expeditionary Force before December 31, 1914. The Club was involved in the Citizens’ Cenotaph Committee of Edmonton, which coordinated the construction of a cenotaph in Edmonton, Alberta to commemorate approximately 3000 citizens of Edmonton who gave their lives in the First World War.
SCOPE AND CONTENT: The fonds consists of the publication List of Officers and Men Serving in the First Canadian Contingent of the British Expeditionary Force, 1914 and photographs of the last ceremony held by the Red Chevron Club at the Edmonton’s Cenotaph original location before it was moved to Sir Winston Churchill Square.
RELATED RECORDS: See also the Citizens’ Cenotaph Committee of Edmonton fonds.
