HISTORY/BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH: The Côté family’s history in what is presently Alberta started when Jean Leon Côté began his career as a Dominion Land Surveyor in 1886. Since then, the Côté family has maintained a presence in Alberta, contributing to the legal system and political life of the province.
CUSTODIAL HISTORY:The records were held by Jean Gustave Côté, Jean Edouard Côté, and Jean Leon Côté until donated to the Provincial Archives of Alberta between the years 1976 and 2000.
SCOPE AND CONTENT: The fonds is composed of various papers, genealogical material and photographs concerning the Côté family and its activities in Alberta.
