The Universal Lifesaver project is a fire escape device allowing for individual evacuation from a high rise
building in the instance of a fire. This escape mechanism included a vertically disposed hollow rail and at
least one rack disposed within the rail. Milne developed and patented this emergency means of egress
from buildings. The series includes brochures, reports, correspondence, conceptual sketches and prints of
the Universal Lifesaver mechanism.
