Air Spray offered crop dusting services as well as fire fighting services throughout Alberta, and maintained a head office in Wetaskiwin. Initially, David Harrington served not only as president but as the only pilot. However by 1961 the company employed six. In 1967, David Harrington changed the name of Air Spray Ltd. to Mercury Flights Ltd. Mary Harrington, wife of David Harrington, worked as a bookkeeper for Air Spray Ltd. | | CUSTODIAL HISTORY: | In 2001, Mary Harrington donated the material to Monica Burckhardt of the Alberta Aviation Council. Mary Harrington, wife of David Harrington, worked as a bookkeeper for Air Spray Ltd. In 2003, the Alberta Aviation Council dissolved. After the Council dissolved, Mary Oswald, Historian for the Council, retained some of the records of the organization. In 2005, Mary Oswald donated the material to the Provincial Archives of Alberta. | | SCOPE AND CONTENT: | The fonds consists of material documenting the operation of Air Spray Ltd. created, collected, and arranged by Mary Harrington including films and transparencies capturing fire suppression and crop dusting performed by Air Spray Ltd during the 1960s; correspondence, licenses, photographs and clippings related to the operation of Air Spray collected by Mary Harrington dating from 1960 to 1969; Mary Harrington's correspondence related to the collection of Air Spray Ltd. materials; a copy of Western Wings <\i> (July 1961) published monthly by Wings Publishing Co.
