HISTORY/BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH: Glen James Erickson was born on March 8, 1909 in Sedgewick, Alberta. In 1928 he headed north and found a homestead in the Garth district north of Bonnyville. He married Bernice Elaine Cunningham in 1931 and the couple had five daughters. Shortly after Glen and Bernice’s first child was born, Glen began recording his daily activities in a diary and faithfully kept his diary for 57 years. Bernice and Glen lived on the homestead until August 1992 when they moved into Bonnyville. Bernice passed away in December of 1992 and Glen passed away less than 30 days later in 1993.
CUSTODIAL HISTORY:Records were donated by Mrs. Maryanne Leroux on behalf of the family. The Erickson’s were the donor’s uncle and aunt. Prior to donation the records were stored in a bank vault.
SCOPE AND CONTENT: Records include the 12 five year farm diaries of Glen James Erickson, covering the years 1936-1993.
