| | LEVEL OF DESCRIPTION: | Series | | No.: | PR3509.0001 | | TITLE: | Bud Squair series | | CREATOR: | Robert 'Bud' Squair | | DATE RANGE: | 1991-2007 | | EXTENT: | 0.03 m of textual records | | ADMINISTRATIVE | | HISTORY/BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH: | Following the completion of a career in the RCMP Bud Squair became involved with the Reform Party of Canada, working as an organizer and fundraiser out of the Edmonton Southwest Reform Party, later Canadian Alliance, constituency office in 1991 acting as the president for two terms, treasurer for two terms, and as Editor of the constituency newsletter. He was also campaign manager for James Rajotte, a Conservative MP, in 1996 and ran to serve on the Canadian Alliance National Council in 2002. He is still active in the Conservative Party of Canada and is the Chief Financial Officer for the Edmonton Whitemud Wildrose Alliance constituency office. In addition to his political activities he is the current president of the Edmonton and District Historical Society (EDHS), and active in the Historical Society of Alberta (HAS), the Edmonton Historical Board, the City of Edmonton Naming Committee, the Historical Resources Review Panel, and is a long time member of the Kiwanis Club of Edmonton. He also assumed part ownership of Blanchett Neon in Edmonton after the death of his father-in-law George Blanchett in 1983. Bud Squair and his wife Betty reside in Edmonton.
