HISTORY/BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH: | Strange Empire Productions was incorporated by Gil Cardinal in 1994 as a production company to create a documentary on Louis Riel and the Métis resistance movement in the Canadian prairies. The original project was entitled Strange Empire and focused on Métis man Greg Coyes and his family history and its relation to Métis history. The completed project was re-named The Great Possibility: Louis Riel and the Métis Resistance and had less focus on Coyes and more emphasis on the history of Louis Riel. |
SCOPE AND CONTENT: | The series consists of masters of both Strange Empire and The Great Possibility, original camera tapes, scripts, contracts, treatments, financial documents, and corporate records. |
