The Camrose City Council appointed Mona Sparling as Chairman of the Camrose 75th on April 26, 1979 and other members were asked to join the Committee. During the year the Committee organized anniversary activities in the community, funded projects and recognized individuals in the community, and handed out souvenir items. The Committee also organized the visit of Princess Margaret, Countess of Snowdon, to Camrose. The Committee requested the Camrose Chamber of Commerce organize a historical society to produce a history of the community. The Camrose Historical Society was formed and published a history book about Camrose entitled A Light Into the Past: A History of Camrose 1905-1980. The last meeting for the Camrose 75th Anniversary Committee was held on April 10, 1980. | | SCOPE AND CONTENT: | Fonds consists of the records of the Camrose 75th Anniversary Committee and includes notices, invitations, programmes, historical/biographical sketches, membership lists of various Camrose organizations, press releases, correspondence, speeches, greeting cards, newspaper clippings, lists of pioneers from the Camrose area, and media information relating to the visit of Princess Margaret. Fonds also includes information about the Government of Alberta 75th Anniversary Commission, a list of members on the Camrose 75th Anniversary Committee, and supplied explanations by the Committee about some of the activities undertaken by the Committee. |
