HISTORY/BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH: Ralph Burchnall was a surveyor, likely originally from Ontario.
CUSTODIAL HISTORY:Ken R. Macpherson, of the Archives of Ontario, on behalf of Marilyn Wilson, deposited the records in the Provincial Archives of Alberta in 1986. Ralph Burchnall was Marilyn Wilson’s uncle.
SCOPE AND CONTENT: The fonds consists of a photograph album including 175 photographs primarily from the Peace River district and along the Athabasca River, of First Nations graves, boy scouts, labourers, houses, farms, rivers, mountains, trees, valleys, pack horses, cars, horses, logging and hunting; and postcards of the Twin Falls in Yoho Valley and views of Vancouver, British Columbia including Capilano Canyon and Stanley Park.
GENERAL NOTE: Information for the biographical sketch is taken from the records. The photographs can be located in the A file of the Provincial Archives of Alberta reference prints under the numbers A.14,208 to A.14,252. Accession PR1986.0295 includes the following discrete item: a photograph of four cowboys. This image was sent from the Archives of Ontario with album, but was an image from an album belonging to Ken R. Macpherson’s mother. The photograph can be located in the A file of the Provincial Archives of Alberta reference prints under the number A.14,207.
