Emery | | ADMINISTRATIVE | | HISTORY/BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH: | Howard Tracy Emery was born on January 28, 1899 in Edmonton, Alberta to Edward Corrigan Emery and Jessie Emery (nee Primrose). Emery was educated at the University of Alberta in Edmonton, Alberta and at Harvard Law School in Cambridge, Massachusetts, and was called to the Bar on June 19, 1933. He joined his father's law firm, Beck and Emery and was named King's Council in 1940. He remained with the firm until his retirement in 1973, at which time the firm was known as Emery and Jamieson. Emery was president of the Edmonton Bar Association in 1938, vice-president of the Alberta Branch of the Canadian Bar Association from 1952-1954, and a Bencher of the Law Society of Alberta from 1955-1965. Emery died on February 25, 1990, survived by his wife, Dorothy Kathleen, and children E.A. Alan, John, and Jane | | SCOPE AND CONTENT: | Fonds consists of photographs depicting early Edmonton, Alberta including All Saints Cathedral, Misercordia Hospital, a parade to celebrate the visit of the Duke of Connaught, and a ceremonial presentation of colours during World War I.
