HISTORY/BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH: Hazel Case was born October 14, 1914. In the 1920s, she was a swimmer, winning the G.H. Wilson Cup in 1929 in the ladies fifty-yard race. She was an original member of the Jasper Place Rustlers hockey team. Hazel married James R. Jamison; their children include June, Gale and Jackie. As an adult, she was highly involved in golf and curling. She dominated the Alberta Ladies Golf Championships from 1952 to 1964. In curling, she along with her teammates won three consecutive Edmonton City Championships in the early 1950s, as well as the Provincial Ladies and the Canadian Ladies Championships in 1966 and 1968. She was president of the Edmonton Girls Curling Association and the Northern Alberta Girls Curling Association. The “Hazel Jamison Junior Open Bonspiel” was named in her honour in 1987. She was inducted into the Edmonton Hall of Fame, the Canadian Curling Hall of Fame and the Alberta Sports Hall of Fame.
SCOPE AND CONTENT: The fonds consists of images of the Jasper Place Rustlers women’s hockey team, originally dating 1928 to 1933.
RELATED RECORDS: Gary Zeman was working on a project about the history of hockey in Alberta and coordinated the copying of a number of hockey-related photographs by the Provincial Archives of Alberta. Mr. Zeman’s book is entitled Alberta On Ice, and is available in the Provincial Archives of Alberta Reference Library, 796.962 Z4 1986.
