HISTORY/BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH: Elizabeth Nay was born in 1919, on a farm east of Mundare, Alberta. She grew up in Hilliard, Alberta, where her father ran a garage, a lumberyard and a hardware store. In 1937, Elizabeth received her First Class Teaching Certificate from the Edmonton Normal School; she taught for six years. In 1941, she met Harald Lefsrud, and they were married in 1943. Elizabeth helped organize the Rosegarland Women’s Institute in 1945 and served as its first president; she was active in the Women’s Institute for a number of years. Elizabeth and Harald had five children: Edmund John, Daniel Marshall, Gwendolyn Elizabeth, Anna Karen and Harold Christopher. Elizabeth and Harald retired to Edmonton, Alberta.
SCOPE AND CONTENT: The fonds consists of two images, from the 1920s of the Junior Red Cross Society members in a parade in Edmonton, Alberta.

The photographs can be located in the A file of the Provincial Archives of Alberta reference prints under the numbers A.9267 and A.9268.
