Victor and Denise, both Belgian immigrants, had met while in Inverness, Nova Scotia and were married April 27, 1918. In 1920, Victor along with his father-in-law and brother-in-law found work at the mine at Rosedale, Alberta. Their wives and children came out the following year. In 1942, the family, which included Victor, Denise and children Leonie (born March 29, 1919), Diane (born July 28, 1932) and Victor moved to Pictou, Nova Scotia. They returned to Rosedale in 1946. Victor attended Rosedale school, and joined the Boy Scouts and the Sea Cadets. He was also a member of the Bronc hockey team. Victor married Delores (Sue) Steel; they have one son, Kevin. They lived in Nacmine, Alberta, near Drumheller. | SCOPE AND CONTENT: | The fonds consists of images from the Wayne and Drumheller areas, originally dating from the 1910s through to the 1940s, and includes images of window advertisements and displays, parade floats, buildings (including those for Imperial Oil Limited), sports teams, some with their winning trophies, automobiles, performers and casts, funerals, swimming pools, schools, horses, trains and train stations, and general street scenes. | GENERAL NOTE: | Information for the biographical sketch is taken from The Valley of the Dinosaurs: Its Families and Coal Mines, which is available in the Provincial Archives of Alberta, 971.233 H644, and from the records.
