HISTORY/BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH: The Sedalia North Mutual Telephone Company was incorporated under The Companies Act on March 14, 1935 and served the area located around Sedalia, Alberta. In 1957 the company divided and the New Sedalia North Mutual Telephone Company was incorporated under The Companies Act on December 9, 1957. It is not known when the New North Sedalia Mutual Telephone Company was dissolved, but it is likely that communication services in the area were taken over by Alberta Government Telephones (AGT) circa (ca.) 1970 and the company dissolved shortly thereafter.
CUSTODIAL HISTORY:Mr. J.E. Cook received these records from Mr. Ralph Thornton Senior and deposited them in the Provincial Archives of Alberta in 1974.355. Mr. Cook’s relationship with Mr. Thornton is unknown, and Mr. Thornton’s relationship with the New Sedalia North Mutual Telephone Company is unknown.
SCOPE AND CONTENT: Fonds consists of the business records of the Sedalia North Mutual Telephone Company and the New Sedalia North Mutual Telephone Company and includes minutes, a subscriber list, and financial records for the Sedalia North Mutual Telephone Company, and minutes and financial records for the New Sedalia North Mutual Telephone Company.
