Includes: 1 photograph album, 0.03 m of textual records, and 3 audiocassettes | | ADMINISTRATIVE | | HISTORY/BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH: | Winnifred Gladys Fielder was born February 2, 1902, in London, England and immigrated to Islay, Alberta in 1912 with her family. Edwin Alfred Charles Kinch was born December 29, 1893, in North Hamptonshire, England and immigrated to Wellsdale, Alberta (later called Clandonald) in 1910 with his family. They were married on December 25, 1918 in Islay, Alberta and homesteaded at Wellsdale. Daughter Winnifred (Wynne) was born in 1921. Daughter Eleanor (Lee) was born in 1923. Son Edwin Alfred Thomas was born in 1928 and died in 1946 at the age of 18.
The family left the homestead in 1924 to move to Beverly (later became a part of Edmonton), Alberta where Edwin worked in the coal mine in the winters and for Northern Boat Builders, owned by Captain Matheison, in the summers. In 1941, they moved to the Highlands area of Edmonton where they built their house, and Edwin continued his mine and boat building work.
When the family lived in Beverly, Winnifred taught sewing out of their home once a week to local schoolgirls.
