HISTORY/BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH: The Alpha Mutual Telephone Company was incorporated circa (ca.) 1939 and served an area around Craigmyle, Alberta. Specifically, it included Townships 29, 30, and 31, Ranges 15, 16, and 17, West of the 4th Meridian (29,30,31-15,16,17-W4). The company was taken over by Alberta Government Telephones on April 17, 1972.
SCOPE AND CONTENT: Fonds consists of the business records of the Alpha Mutual Telephone Company and includes a line maintenance diary, minutes, share certificates, subscriber lists, subscriber accounts, financial records, agreements, and maps.
DATE NOTE: Some minutes and financial records of the Alpha Mutual Telephone Company dated after the closing of the telephone company are included in this fonds.
GENERAL NOTE: The region serviced by the mutual telephone company is represented according to the Alberta Township Survey (ATS) system.
