HISTORY/BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH: | In 1914, Felice de Angelis, and other Italian settlers, left Edmonton in search of homesteading land in the hope of building an Italian community in Northern Alberta. At the time, Felice de Angelis was a civil engineer and the Italian Consul for Edmonton. The community became known as Venice-Hylo. |
CUSTODIAL HISTORY: | In 1995, Anthony Bonnifaceio donated the material to the Provincial Archives of Alberta. The provenance of the material prior to 1995 is unknown. |
SCOPE AND CONTENT: | The fonds consists of a typed, English translation of Felice de Angelis' Italian diary during the establishment of the Venice-Hylo settlement in 1914. The author of the translation is unknown. |
