HISTORY/BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH: The Conjuring Creek Mutual Telephone Company was incorporated circa (ca.) 1934 under The Companies Act and served the area around Calmar, Alberta. Specifically, it included Townships 47, 48, and 49, Ranges 25, 26, and 27, West of the 4th Meridian (47,48,49-25,26,27). Alberta Government Telephones (AGT) assumed provision of communication services in the area as of September 11, 1972 and the Conjuring Creek Mutual Telephone Company was dissolved in 1974.
SCOPE AND CONTENT: Fonds consists of the business records of the Conjuring Creek Mutual Telephone Company and includes minutes, by-laws, agreements, certificates, annual reports, correspondence, subscriber lists, financial records, subscriber accounts, a line maintenance diary, newspaper clippings, and maps. Some minutes dating 1934-1973 were copied to microfilm in 1974 under accession number PR1974.218.
DATE NOTE: Some minutes, correspondence, and financial records of the Conjuring Creek Mutual Telephone Company dated after the official closing of the telephone company have been included in this fonds.
