The second of four children, she had an older sister, Margery, a younger brother, Pat, and a younger sister, Alice. Dorothy was a long-time resident of Edmonton, Alberta, and was very active in the community. As a young woman she worked for the Hudson’s Bay Company retail store in 1929. She was a member of the Canadian Girl Guides Association for about twenty years, and became the first Area Commissioner of Girl Guides for the Edmonton area. She has held executive and committee positions in the Junior Hospital League, the Royal Overseas League, and the Imperial Order of the Daughters of the Empire (I.O.D.E.). For a number of years she was actively involved in Christ Church, in Edmonton, Alberta, and became a member of the Gray House Guild in 1982. Dorothy married F.O. Roth sometime between 1935 and 1940.
