HISTORY/BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH: The Edmonton Industrial Association was established to promote industrial development, though more specifically, to encourage existing industries, to secure new industries, and to give of the fullest cooperation to the Alberta Government, Edmonton's City Council, and all other organizations having similar objectives. Membership in the Edmonton Industrial Association was open to all men, and the executive consisted of twenty-one members. The Edmonton Industrial Association, along with Edmonton City Council, Edmonton Chamber of Commerce and Canadian Manufacturers' Association, formed the Industries Committee. The Edmonton Industrial Association sponsored the "Produced in Alberta Exhibition" with the cooperation of the Industries Committee.
CUSTODIAL HISTORY:Diane Coulthard, H.F. McKee's granddaughter, deposited the records in the Provincial Archives of Alberta in 1989. McKee was secretary for the organization.
SCOPE AND CONTENT: The fonds consists of records of the Edmonton Industrial Association and includes executive and committees (such as the Premises Committee) minutes, reports, and correspondence, receipts and financial records, membership lists, "Made in Edmonton" directory (which includes manufacturers and a commodity index for 1930), records relating to Edmonton Industrial Association's association with the Industries Committee including scheme to commence building operations and put men to work (1932), newspaper clippings, and photographs and floor plans for "Produced in Alberta Exhibitions".
GENERAL NOTE: Information for the administrative history is taken from the records. This fonds was donated at the same time, and in the same accession as the following unrelated fonds: the Harold Fletcher McKee fonds (PR1868), the George A. McKee fonds (PR1872), the Alberta Systems, Teachers' Agency Department fonds (PR1869), and the Straw Paper Company of Canada Limited fonds (PR1871).
