The South Side Swim Club (Edmonton) (SSSC) was incorporated June 3, 1964 under the Societies Act (R.S.A. 1955, chapter 315) to promote amateur competitive aquatic sports; their motto was “Highest, Furthest and Fastest” which was amended to “Highest, Fastest and Strongest” in January 1965. The South Side Swim Club (Edmonton) amalgamated with the Jasper Place Swim Club in 1978, forming a new competitive swim club, the Edmonton Keyano Swim Club; this coincided with the commencement of the Commonwealth Games in 1978 and the completion of the Kinsmen Sports Centre. | SCOPE AND CONTENT: | The fonds consists of the records of the South Side Swim Club and includes incorporation records, notes on the history of swimming, agendas, minutes, reports, financial statements, correspondence, policies, contacts, awards programmes, meet results, newspaper clippings, membership lists, and membership forms. | ARRANGEMENT NOTE: | Some of the swim meet records may have at one time belonged to the East End Swim Club, but appear to have been integrated with the South Side Swim Club's records. | GENERAL NOTE: | Information for the administrative history is from the records and from the Edmonton Keyano Swim Club website,
