HISTORY/BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH: | The Edmonton First Ukrainian Presbyterian Church was established circa 1912 to serve the Ukrainian population in Edmonton and was located at 96 Street and 106 Avenue. The congregation was originally named the First Ruthenian Presbyterian Church but appears to have changed its name in the 1920s. In 1925, the congregation joined the United Church of Canada, a union of Methodist, Presbyterian, and Congregational denominations, and was reconstituted as Edmonton First Ukrainian United Church. |
CUSTODIAL HISTORY: | The church register was located in the records of the Bissell Institute. It was acquired by the Conference Archives sometime prior to 1975 however there is no surviving record of the details. |
SCOPE AND CONTENT: | The fonds consists of church registers of baptisms (1912-1925). Marriages (1912-1925), and burials (1915-1925). |
