HISTORY/BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH: Robertson United Church was formed in Edmonton in1925 upon the creation of The United Church of Canada through the union of Methodist, Presbyterian and Congregational denominations. The origin of the congregation is from Robertson Methodist Church which was established in 1909 and which joined in union in 1925 to become Robertson United Church. Robertson United Church ceased to exist in 1971 upon amalgamation with Wesley United Church to form Robertson-Wesley United Church.
CUSTODIAL HISTORY:Records deposited under accession number PR1975.0387 were acquired sometime prior to 1975 however there is no surviving record of the details. In 1975, the Conference entered into a permanent loan agreement with the Provincial Archives of Alberta (PAA) for the physical custody and control of the holdings of the Conference Archives and the records were relocated to the PAA in that same year. Records received after 1975 have come from the congregation, church members, or officers of the presbytery or the Conference.
SCOPE AND CONTENT: The fonds consists of annual reports (1946-1961, with gaps); amalgamation records (1969); financial records (1930-1933); Stewardship Committee records (1963); programmes and orders of service (1949-1964, with gaps); newspaper clippings (1951-1962).
