HISTORY/BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH: The International Brotherhood of Painters, Decorators, and Paperhangers, Local 1016 was located in Edmonton, Alberta. Local 1016 merged with Local 583 in Calgary, and Local 1738 in Lethbridge, in 1969 to become District Council 77. Circa (ca.) 1994, District Council 77 became Alberta Local 177. The name International Brotherhood of Painters, Decorators, and Paperhangers was changed to the International Union of Painters and Allied Trades in August 1999.
CUSTODIAL HISTORY:Mr. S. J. Beaumont deposited these records in the Provincial Archives of Alberta in 1973. Mr. Beaumont’s relationship with the International Brotherhood of Painters, Decorators and Paperhangers, Local 1016 is unknown.
SCOPE AND CONTENT: Fonds consists of a number of ledgers which contain minutes, member accounts, member lists, financial records, a wage agreement, two collective agreements, and receipts.
PHYSICAL CONDITION: Some of the ledgers are water damaged, dirty, and have detached pages.
