HISTORY/BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH: A. Irene McKinnon (nee Sharpe) lived in Summerside, Prince Edward Island. Her father, John Sharpe, died in 1906 and circa (ca.) 1907 McKinnon traveled across Canada and the United States of America, stopping for a time in Edmonton, Alberta. On June 29, 1911 she married James Angus McKinnon who was a businessman in Edmonton, Alberta and a Member of Parliament for Edmonton East, and together they had one daughter, Keltie. Irene McKinnon died in October 1944, survived by her husband who died in 1958.
CUSTODIAL HISTORY:Mrs. Naomi Radford deposited these records in the Provincial Archives of Alberta in 1975 on behalf of Mrs. H.J. Richards. Mrs. Richards found the records in the attic of her house, which was formerly owned by Jim McKinnon.
SCOPE AND CONTENT: Fonds consists of the personal records of Irene McKinnon and includes correspondence, receipts, a bankbook, newspaper clippings, a journal, and negatives which depict various men and women with an automobile.
