HISTORY/BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH: The North Edmonton Public School Parents’ Teachers’ Association, also known as the Parents’-Teachers’ Association of the North Edmonton Public School, was organized September 27, 1920. The objective was to affect between the home and the school a sympathetic co-operative and mutual helpfulness in the education of children, to enable the principal and the teachers to know from the parents the peculiarities and tendencies of the individual child, to foster an increasing interest on the part of the community in the work of the school, and for the consideration of all such matters as pertain to the welfare of the school.
CUSTODIAL HISTORY:David C. Adams, the son of Clifford J. Adams, secretary-treasurer of the Association, deposited the records in the Provincial Archives of Alberta in 1984.
SCOPE AND CONTENT: The fonds consists of constitutions, correspondence and receipts.
GENERAL NOTE: Information for the administrative history is from the records. The records were deposited at the same time, and in the same accession, as the following unrelated fonds, Clifford J. Adams fonds, records (secretary-treasurer’s correspondence) belonging to the St. Michael and All Angels Anglican Church fonds, and the following discrete items: the Alberta Citizens’ Registration Covenant of David Clifford Adams and the Constitution and Bylaws of the Highlands District Community League.
