ADMINISTRATIVE
HISTORY/BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH: Grace United Church was established in 1957 in the vicinity of Hardisty, Gold Bar, Capilano, and Fulton Place in southeast Edmonton. The congregation held its service of constitution in May 1958 with 125 charter members. In 1959, the congregation began construction on a new church building and the dedication service was held in September 1960. The congregation continues to exist in that location and is situated in Edmonton Presbytery.
CUSTODIAL HISTORY:Records deposited under accession number PR1975.0387 were acquired sometime prior to 1975 however there is no surviving record of the details. In 1975, the Conference entered into a permanent loan agreement with the Provincial Archives of Alberta (PAA) for the physical custody and control of the holdings of the Conference Archives and the records were relocated to the PAA in that same year. The conference transferred the church registers to the PAA in 1983 under the accession number PR1983.0285 however there is no surviving record of acquisition. Records received after 1975 have come from the congregation, church members, or officers of the presbytery or the Conference. Margaret Foxgrove, the Church administrator of Grace United Church, deposited the materials constituting PR1998.1149 on Dec. 15, 1998.
SCOPE AND CONTENT: The fonds consists of annual reports (1958-1994, with gaps); correspondence (1959-1960); Official Board minutes (1963-1970 with gaps); Executive minutes (1965-1972); financial statements (1988); Finance Committee minutes (1965-1972); Property Development Committee records (1975); Christian Education Committee minutes (1963-1972); Publicity Committee minutes (1970-1972); Ministry and Personnel Committee minutes (1972); Vestry minutes (1969, 1972); Women's Federation minutes (1957-1960); UCW minutes (1961-1972); Sunday School minutes (1965-1966); Fun and Fitness committee records (1969); newsletters (1960-1994 with gaps); photographs (1957-1972); negatives (1957-1958); Newspaper clippings (1960-1972); and historical data (1959, 1983).
