Includes 0.05 m of textual records, 34 photographs, 9 postcards, and 2 maps. | | ADMINISTRATIVE | | HISTORY/BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH: | Adolf Neumann was born in 1888. Originally from Lodz, Poland, he arrived in Edmonton, Alberta in about 1906; he had an uncle living in Edmonton. Adolf worked for the Sommerville Hardware Company Limited, which eventually became the Marshall-Wells Company. In 1914, he married Caroline Mohr. She was born November 24, 1892 and was the daughter of Philip and Caroline (Decker) Mohr. Prior to marrying, Caroline worked as a stenographer for the Revillon Brothers in Edmonton from 1908 to 1914. Adolf died April 9, 1949 and Caroline died October 29, 1961. Adolf and Caroline had one daughter, Florence, born in 1922. She attended McCauly School, Victoria High School and the McTavish Business College. She worked a variety of jobs before becoming employed by the Edmonton School Board in 1942. Florence worked with the school board until she married Marcus Bomerlan in 1953. She and Marcus had two sons, Lee (born 1954) and Garry (born 1957). | | SCOPE AND CONTENT: | The fonds consists of mechanically reproduced souvenir booklet with photographic reproductions of buildings and scenes of Calgary, valentine cards, photographs of threshing, farm at Beaver Hills, Marshall-Wells Company Limited baseball team, picnic, employees, building, a banquet of the Edmonton Gun Club, students of the Grand Trunk Business College (Edmonton), a house (18 Stewart Street), the office of Ashdown company, Revillon Brothers' office, public library, Edmonton, churches, stores, postcards of Edmonton buildings, a "Happy Gang" souvenir album, a "CKUA and 40 Wondrous Years of Radio" booklet, the Breakfast Club yearbooks, a pictorial souvenir booklet of the Alaska Highway, a Home Builders' Handbook for Edmonton, a book on practical drills in rapid calculus, Hamley Press Limited advertisement, a map of Waterton Lakes Park, a Mundy maps of Edmonton, and a photograph album containing just over 200 photographs of family and friends. The fonds also includes a leather-covered photograph album with photographs by C.W. Mathers containing photographs of various views of Edmonton. | | RELATED RECORDS: | Copies of the C.W.
