In 1940, the Frank Oliver chapter began development for the establishment of a home for the children of Ex-Servicemen in Edmonton, Alberta. In 1946, the home opened at 9908, 103rd Street. In 1947, the IODE cancelled the Frank Oliver chapter after a discrepancy regarding the use of the building occurred. The Frank Oliver chapter appealed their cancellation, but lost their appeal. However, the IODE agreed to allow the home to continue to operate under the direction of the former Frank Oliver chapter. The home operated on donations from Canadian legions, Masonic Orders, the Red Cross, and various organizations throughout Alberta, and Edmonton. A house matron, and a board of directors managed the home. Over the years, the home housed between 25 and 50 children at a time. The Home also operated a children's camp at Silver Beach at Pigeon Lake. In 1967, the home closed.
