HISTORY/BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH: The Royal Society of Saint (St.) George, Edmonton Branch was organized during World War II to promote the British tradition and to provide a venue where people of English nationality could gather. The parent organization was founded in England in the 18th century and has branches around the world. The Royal Society of St. George, Edmonton Branch lost its charter in 1978 and was succeeded by the Alberta St. George of England Society in 1982.
SCOPE AND CONTENT: Fonds consists of records of the Royal Society of St. George, Edmonton Branch pertaining to it activities in Edmonton and to its affiliation with other Royal Society of St. George branches and includes membership lists, financial records, correspondence, receipts, notes, hymns, notices, minutes, newsletters and announcement from the Edmonton and other branches, and an annual report and copy of the charter issued to the Royal Society of St. George parent body.
