Many of the records are fragile and torn. | | ADMINISTRATIVE | | HISTORY/BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH: | In 1891 three pioneers of the Clover Bar District, North-West Territories, now Alberta, petitioned the Lieutenant Governor to establish a school. On December 30, 1891 their petition was accepted and the Clover Bar School District No. 212 was established and located at Site 9, Township 53, Range 23, West of the 4th Meridian (9-53-23-W4). Emile Joseph designed the school and John Ball of Edmonton built the school for a cost $1450.00. The school accepted its first students in August 1902. | | CUSTODIAL HISTORY: | Mr. Cyrus Wilkinson deposited accession PR1970.254 in the Provincial Archives of Alberta in 1970. Mr. Wilkinson's relationship to the Clover Bar School District No. 212 is unknown. Hazel Boorse, a daughter of Cyrus Wilkinson, received the records in accession PR1982.288 from her father and deposited them in the County of Strathcona Municipal Library. The County of Strathcona Municipal Library deposited the records in the Archives in 1982. | | SCOPE AND CONTENT: | Fonds consists of records of the Clover Bar School District No. 212 and includes minutes, correspondence, bylaws, teacher and trustee agreements, contracts, insurance policies, receipts, promissory notes, debenture coupons, inspectors' reports, assessment and tax rolls, financial records, daily registers of students, school censuses, and other records regarding pupil attendance.
