HISTORY/BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH: Colin Fraser was born on December 15, 1849 at Jasper House, Alberta. He was one of twelve children born to Nancy Fraser (nee Gaudry) and Colin Fraser, who worked for the Hudson's Bay Company and was the piper to Sir George Simpson, Governor of the Hudson's Bay Company. Colin Fraser Jr. homesteaded near Edmonton in the 1870's, later moving to Fort Chipewyan and working for the Hudson's Bay Company as a scout. He married Flora Rowland, daughter of William Rowland, and together they had five children, James, Maria, Louisa, Colin William Roderick, and Fred Robert. Fraser died on February 3, 1941, survived by his wife and children.
CUSTODIAL HISTORY:Mr. (Frederick) Horace Wylie deposited these records in the Provincial Archives of Alberta in 1987. Mr. Wylie's relationship with Colin Fraser is unknown.
SCOPE AND CONTENT: Fonds consists of daily journals listing trade transactions between Colin Fraser and various individuals.
