HISTORY/BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH: The Retired Teachers’ Club was formed by retired women teachers in 1947. The name of the club was changed to the Retired Women Teachers’ Club around 1963, also sometimes referred to as the Retired Lady Teachers’ Club. In about 1969, the Club added Edmonton to its title, becoming the Edmonton Retired Women Teachers’ Club. The Edmonton Retired Women’s Teachers Club was an informal social group open to all retired women teachers. The group disbanded around 1996.
SCOPE AND CONTENT: The fonds consists of the records of the Edmonton Retired Women Teachers’ Club and includes members lists and attendance, financial records, minutes, agendas, correspondence, and photographs of members at meetings and special events.
