HISTORY/BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH: The Friends of Berlin Club (Edmonton) was founded in 1964 by individuals who had immigrated to Edmonton, Alberta from Berlin and wanted to show their solidarity with the City of Berlin as a response to the construction of Berlin Wall. In 1983 the members of the Friends of Berlin Club (Edmonton), along with the members of the Edelweiss Club and the Phoenix Club, decided to form an association called the German Canadian Cultural Association to help provide the German-Canadian population with a bigger and better facility.
CUSTODIAL HISTORY:Mr. Hans Hippert deposited these records in the Provincial Archives of Alberta in 1973. Mr. Hippert was a member of the Friends of Berlin Club (Edmonton).
SCOPE AND CONTENT: Fonds consists of posters, programmes, maps, pamphlets, magazines, postcards, correspondence, maps, and photographs.
