Ronald Tremblay est un artiste franco-albertain qui a travaillé dans le domaine de la chanson comme réalisateur, producteur, enseignant, journaliste, gérant, parolier et interprète. Il est né à Montréal le 19 août 1955, fils de Georges Tremblay (1936) et Aline Samuel (1937). Il avait trois soeurs cadettes : Debbye (1958), Linda (1960) et Nancy (1964-1978). Il s'est marié deux fois, en 1975 avec Pierrette Haché et en 1991 avec Lisette Vienne. Sa conjointe depuis 1999 est Danielle LaBrie.

Ronald Tremblay a fait des études classiques (1967 à 1970), puis il a quitté l'école après la 11e année pour servir dans les Forces armées canadiennes (1972 à 1975). Il a ensuite travaillé comme journaliste à la radio (CJVA Caraquet, puis CBAF Radio-Canada), puis comme interprète au Nouveau-Brunswick (1977 à 1982). Il a déménagé à Québec en 1982 et a été journaliste à Regina pour L'Eau vive cette même année. Il a aussi été représentant de la Société canadienne des auteurs, compositeurs et éditeurs de musique (CAPAC, maintenant SOCAN) à Montréal (1983 à 1985). En 1985 il est venu à Edmonton, où il était assistant à la réalisation et plus tard producteur pour Radio-Canada (CHFA, 1985 à 2000). Ronald Tremblay est le fondateur du Gala albertain de la chanson (1989) et cofondateur, avec Yves Caron de l'ACFA provinciale, du concours interprovincial Chant'Ouest (1990), pour lequel il a reçu le Prix du président de Radio-Canada. De 2000 à 2009, il était un des collaborateurs du journal Le Franco. Il a également collaboré à quelques publications anglaises. En 2001 il a été l'instigateur de La Chicane albertaine, un concours de groupes rock, et le coordonnateur du Centre de développement musical (CDM).

Il a été président ou membre du conseil d'administration de nombreux organismes, y compris le Regroupement artistique francophone de l'Alberta (RAFA, 2003 à 2005), la Société du Gala albertain, L'UniThéâtre, la Fédération culturelle canadienne-française (FCCF) et l'Alliance nationale de l'industrie musicale (ANIM). Il était vice-président du Cohenights Arts Society en 2005 et producteur du 5th Annual Leonard Cohen Night en 2006.

Il a été membre de divers groupes folk-rock, comme Les nouveaux voisins d'Hélène, ainsi que Gentils Garçons. En 2002 il a sorti l'album Poésie pour le poivre, qui figurait parmi les finalistes du meilleur album francophone aux Western Canadian Music Awards en 2003. Il a abandonné la scène en 2005. Il a également été actif dans le milieu du théâtre en tant qu'auteur et comédien avec L'UniThéâtre d'Edmonton (Les ABC de la chanson) et le Cercle Molière de Winnipeg (Dust & Dreams).

Ronald Tremblay is a Francophone artist who worked in the music industry as a director, producer, teacher, journalist, manager, lyricist and singer. He was born on August 19, 1955, in Montréal, Quebec, to Georges Tremblay (1936) and Aline Samuel (1937). He had three younger sisters: Debbye (1958), Linda (1960) and Nancy (1964–1978). He married twice, first Pierrette Haché (1975), then Lisette Vienne (1991). Danielle LaBrie has been his partner since 1999.

Ronald Tremblay received a classical education from 1967 to 1970 and quit school after grade 11 to serve in the Canadian Forces (1972 to 1975). He then worked as a journalist and in radio (CJVA Caraquet, then CBAF Radio-Canada) and as a singer in New Brunswick (1976 to 1982). He moved to Québec in 1982 and was a journalist in Regina, Saskatchewan, for L’eau vive that same year. From 1983 to 1985 he worked as a representative of the Society of Composers, Authors and Music Publishers of Canada (SOCAN, formerly known as CAPAC) in Montréal. In 1985 he moved to Edmonton, where he was a production assistant and later producer for CBC/Radio-Canada (CHFA, 1985 to 2000). Ronald Tremblay is the founder of the Gala albertain de la chanson (1989) and co-founder, with Yves Caron, of an interprovincial contest called Chant’Ouest (1990), for which he received Radio-Canada’s president’s award. From 2000 to 2009 he contributed regularly to the newspaper Le Franco, as well as to some English publications. In 2001 he started La Chicane albertaine, a rock-and-roll contest, and was the coordinator of the Centre de développement musical.

Ronald Tremblay served as president or member of the board of directors of several organizations, including the Regroupement artistique francophone de l’Alberta (RAFA), the Société du Gala albertain, L’Unithéâtre, the Fédération culturelle canadienne-française (FCCF) and the Alliance nationale de l’industrie musicale (ANIM). Ronald Tremblay was a member of various folk-rock groups such as Les nouveaux voisins d’Hélène and Gentils Garçons. In 2002 he released an album entitled Poésie pour le poivre, which was nominated for the Best Francophone Album at the Western Canadian Music Awards in 2003. He stopped performing on stage in 2005. He was also involved in theatre as an actor and writer with L’Unithéâtre of Edmonton (Les ABC de la chanson) and the Cercle Molière of Winnipeg (Dust & Dreams).
