History: The Ladies Aid bought the Lutheran Church lots for $237.50 in 1914. In 1915 the church was built under the supervision of a committee consisting of Harold Hurum, Einar Arneson and Paul Kjosness. The church bell came from Chicago and weighted 2,000 lbs. When the church was completed, they owed $1,000 for construction costs. Nels Nelson donated materials for the altar, which was built by Evan Olson. Olson also constructed the altar railing, the pulpit, the baptismal font and donated two pictures for the altar. In 1922, the church constitution was changed so women over 21 could vote in church matters.
Water and sewer were installed in 1958. Cement walks were poured in 1961. The sacristy was constructed in 1966, a new heater installed in 1972, 1978 installed new exterior carpet on the steps, new cement floors were poured and new toilets installed in 1979 and in 1980 the roof was reshingled and the steeple rebuilt.
The church closed in the spring of 2010 and will be purchased by the Village of Holden. (Heritage Collaborative, 2010)
