******************************

U.S. Army Air Force Hangar T3, later known as Hangar 11, was an aircraft hangar constructed in 1942, during the Second World War. It was built of wood, and consisted of a central open hangar space covered by an arched roof and three storeys of ancillary spaces on its east and west sides. The north and south elevations featured typical large openings to accommodate aircraft access. It was located at Blatchford Field, later known as the Edmonton Municipal Airport, west of 109 Street, north of Princess Elizabeth Avenue, and east of the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology (NAIT) campus, in what is now known as the Blatchford neighbourhood. Hangar T3 was the last remaining Second World War-era hangar structure on the Blatchford site. Prior to its destruction by fire on April 22, 2024, it was believed to be one of the last remaining buildings of its kind in western Canada.
