HISTORY/BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH: Marie Louise Antoinette Grenier was born in 1919 in Edmonton, Alberta. Antoinette was the daughter of Adélard Grenier and Marie Rigoulet-Grenier. Adélard, born ca. 1863, was the son of François Grenier and Emérence Blais. Originally from Yamachiche, Québec, he met Marie Irma Rigoulet in the United States and they were married on July 9, 1912 in Chicago, Illinois. They came to Alberta later that year and homesteaded in the Lac La Biche area. Adélard died on September 3, 1950, and Marie on November 30, 1985. Antoinette was a student at the Académie Assomption, an Edmonton boarding school run by Soeurs de l'Assomption de la Sainte-Vierge (Sisters of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin). In 1934-1935, 1936-1937 and 1937-1938, through this school, Antoinette received diplomas from Laval University. Antoinette was secretary at Saint-Joseph's College in Edmonton from about 1942 to 1944. In 1974, she registered with the Canadian College of Health Record Administrators. She spent twenty-one years at the Charles Camsell Hospital as a medical archivist and librarian.
SCOPE AND CONTENT: The records consist of the personal records of Antoinette Grenier and includes photocopied records, dating 1885 to 1985, of her father's correspondence, his notes, his diaries and his booklets about the Collège Saint-Joseph in Saint Boniface, Manitoba, her mother's correspondence, genealogical information, her own correspondence, Parcelles de Vie, histories about Immaculée Conception (Immaculate Conception) parish in Edmonton and Yamachiche, Québec and a recording about the family's history; Antoinette's original records include assorted published booklets and programs relating to medical record librarians and the Académie Assomption, a reunion program for Edmonton Normal School, Avant-Garde de l'Assomption newsletters, certificates and a Manual for Medical Records Librarians.
