Jules Bidault was born on January 15, 1884 in Neuville-sur-Sarthe, France. There he studied theology under his parish priest, after which he would continue his studies in Mans. He entered the novitiate of Le Bestin, Belgium, on October 4, 1903, and professed his vows on October 4, 1904. He continued his studies at the Liège scholasticate, Belgium, where he professed his perpetual vows on November 1, 1905. He was ordained an Oblates of Mary Immaculate priest in Liège on February 25, 1908.

After his ordination, Father Bidault was sent to St. Joachim parish in Edmonton (1909-1910), then Lethbridge (1910-1928), and St. Albert (1928-1930). He then went to the Apostolic Vicariate of Grouard where he was the parish priest at McLennan, Alberta (1930-1932). Later, he worked as a parish priest at Delmas, Saskatchewan (1932-1933), St. Albert (1933), Lac-la-Biche (1933-1937), again at St. Albert (1937-1947), then at Blue Quills Indian School, St. Paul, Alberta (1947), Meadow Lake, Saskatchewan (1947-1950), Delmas, Saskatchewan (1950-1962), St. Joachim, Edmonton (1962-1966), Retreat House, St. Albert (1966-1971), again at St. Joachim (1971-1972), and again at the Retreat House, St. Albert (1972-1974). He retired first to the Grandin Home and then to the Youville Home in St. Albert in 1976.

Father Bidault received the Order of Merit from the French government in 1970. He was buried in the Oblate cemetery in St. Albert, Alberta after his death on November 30, 1978.
