HISTORY/BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH: Crystal Plamondon is a bilingual singer and song-writer from the village of Plamondon, Alberta. In 1992, she received a Molson Canadian Alberta Recording Industry Association (ARIA) Performer of the Year Award. She was also nominated for the YWCA's tribute to Women Award for Arts and Culture. She released her first disc, Carpe Diem, in 1993 and her second, La Rousse Farouche, in 1996. In 1997, she hosted the first French country music program on Country Max, a sister station to the Much Music television network. In 1998, she filmed a television special entitled 'Passeporte Musique' for Radio-Canada. The special also aired on the BRAVO television network. In 2002, she released Plus de Frontieres. In 2004, she was awarded the 'Prix Sylvie Van Brabant' for Excellence in Artistique Creation in Alberta. In addition, she owns the recording label 'Avenir Disc.' She is also a member of the Lac La Biche Historical Society.
SCOPE AND CONTENT: The fonds consists of seven studio records made by Crystal Plamondon.
