Location: National Historic Site marker is situated at west end of coulee top constituting main site, just north of the University of Lethbridge.
The site encompasses the tops of two coulees and the intervening ravine just north of 6th Avenue (South) bridge in West Lethbridge, overlooking Oldman river from west.
On the coulee tops and sides of the present Old Man River on the west side and on the terrace in the valley on the east of the river. East terrace called 'Indian Battle Park' - civil park. Coulee tops are covered in grass while the river bottom land is brush covered.
Coulee tops are covered with prairie grass, and saskatoon and related bushes dominate ravine bottom growth.
